SPLIT

Bird view - ACI marina Split

Split is the largest town on the Croatian Adriatic (second largest in Croatia) and is the centre of Dalmatia region. It is situated in the warmest region of the north Mediterranean and in the central zone of the Adriatic Croatian coast. With its rich history of more than 1700 years and mild climate with 2700 sunny hours per year, it is an oasis sheltered from the winds and cold. Its heart and soul is the famous Diocletian Palace protected by the UNESCO but it is also well known for other sights: hill Marjan with numerous churches, Mestrovic gallery, beach Bacvice, fort Gripe...
As far as the traffic, Split is also known as a transit centre. There's a big port with local, regional and international ferries. You can choose a local ferry or a catamaran to visit the island nearby (Brac, Hvar, Solta, Vis, Korcula...), to go to Dubrovnik, Rijeka or other tourist centers on the coast but you can also find ferry lines to Italy, Greece... Near the ferry port, there are also train and bus stations with numerous lines especially popular for visitors that travel down or up the Croatia coast. The biggest airport on the coast is the Split airport that is about 20 km away from the city centre and that connects the entire region with European and international destinations.

There are two marinas used for charter in Split. The bigger and most popular is ACI marina Split that lies in the southwest part of the main city port, near the city centre. The long breakwater protects it from the southern winds. The marina is opened all year round; it has 364 berths and 60 land berths – all with water and power supply. ACI marina Split has been awarded the European Blue Flag, an environmental award for communities that make a special effort to keep their beaches and marinas clean and manage them with full consideration for the local environment. The marina has a reception, exchange office, restaurant, snack-bar, toilets and showers, laundry service, grocery store, nautical store, repair shop... The closest gas station is only 100 m distance, in front of a nearby hotel.
Second and smaller marina – marina Spinut - is situated on the northeast shore of Marjan peninsula. It is opened all year round and has only about 50 commercial berths for charter guests and about 750 ones for local yacht club. As it is about 5 min drive (or 15 min walk) from the city centre, it has more peace and quiet while surrounded with pine trees of Forest park Marjan and the beach nearby.
